  ::  strawberry pretzel salad  ::

What you need

1.5 sticks butter, melted
2 c crushed pretzels
1/4 c sugar

8 oz cream cheese, softened
2 c Cool Whip
1 c sugar

1 large package (6 oz) strawberry Jello
2 c pineapple juice
20 oz frozen sliced strawberries, thawed in refrigerator

What you do

  1. Crust: Combine the first set of ingredients and press firmly into the bottom of a greased 9 x 13 glass pan.  Bake for about 15 minutes at 350 degrees.  Remove from oven and allow to cool completely.

  2. Combine second set of ingredients and mix until all the lumps have been worked out.  Spread gently over the cooled crust.  Avoid making peaks (meaning: try to make the top as smooth as possible).

  3. Heat the pineapple juice and dissolve Jello. Stir in strawberries.  Allow to cool, but not gel.

  4. Gently spoon the liquid gelatin over the cream cheese layer.  Cover and refrigerate over night.

  5. Serve by cutting into squares (so that the layers are maintained).
